About this tour
This is one of the busiest day trips out of Dublin, and for good reason. In about 12 hours you cover the best of the Northern Ireland coast without having to drive on the left yourself.
Coaches leave from outside the Hugh Lane Gallery on Parnell Square at 6:45am and head north, with a breakfast stop on the way. The first sight is Dunluce Castle, a ruined clifftop castle on the Antrim coast, for a quick photo stop.
The main event is the Giant's Causeway, the UNESCO World Heritage Site made of roughly 40,000 basalt columns. You get at least two hours here, which is enough to walk down to the stones and take one of the cliff paths.
On the way back you drive the Dark Hedges, the avenue of 18th-century beech trees made famous by Game of Thrones, then finish with about an hour and a half in Belfast near City Hall before the drive back to Dublin.
