About this tour
This seven-and-a-half-hour tour with Lally Tours heads west from Galway into Connemara, a rugged Irish-speaking (Gaeltacht) region of mountains, lakes and bog. Along the way your driver-guide explains where the Irish language came from and why it is still spoken here.
The route passes Oughterard on Lough Corrib, the Twelve Bens and Maam Cross before stopping in Leenane on Killary Harbour, often described as Ireland's fjord, with a second stop by the harbour for photos.
The longest stop is two full hours at Kylemore Abbey and its Victorian Walled Garden, with entrance included. The return leg passes Connemara National Park and a seaside village in south Connemara, then comes back to Galway through Salthill.
