About this tour
Run by Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours, this eight-hour trip leaves Galway at 9:30 am and works its way down the coast of County Clare with a local driver-guide providing commentary along the way.
The first stop is Dunguaire Castle near Kinvara, a much-photographed tower house, followed by a visit to Hazel Mountain Chocolate where you get a look at the chocolate-making and a chance to buy some. The road then crosses the bare limestone of the Burren, passing Corcomroe Abbey and Aillwee Cave, with optional photo stops such as Corkscrew Hill.
After a lunch break at Hotel Doolin (food at your own cost), the main event is a generous two hours at the Cliffs of Moher, with entry to the visitor centre included. The return leg follows the coast road past Fanore and Black Head Lighthouse, getting you back to Merchants Road at around 5:30 pm.
